Common questions about trick-or-treating here
01 Are these trick-or-treat hours official?
No Snohomish County city publishes official citywide door-to-door trick-or-treat hours for Halloween 2026. The times listed on this page are the official event windows set by the hosting city, port, chamber, tribe, or organization for its own trunk-or-treat or downtown event. Neighborhood trick-or-treating follows local custom, so when you see hours attributed to a city, check that city’s website for an official notice before relying on them.
02 Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026. Does that change anything?
Saturday, October 31, 2026 means several towns run their downtown events during the day or early evening rather than after dark. Arlington’s official merchant window is noon to 1 p.m., Monroe runs 1 to 3 p.m., Snohomish runs 3 to 5 p.m., and Stanwood runs 3 to 6 p.m. Others, like Mill Creek’s Trunk-or-Treat on Main (6 to 8 p.m.), stay in the evening. Check each event’s own window.
03 What happens if it rains?
Many events are rain or shine. Lake Stevens states HarvestFest runs rain or shine, Monroe’s Treat Street is under the Evergreen Speedway grandstands, and Mukilteo’s Boo Bash and Lynnwood’s Boo Bash are indoors or under cover. The Port of Everett’s Haunted Harbor is an outdoor waterfront event, so dress for the weather there. When in doubt, check the event page for a weather plan.
04 Can I bring my costumed pet?
Most hosts ask you to leave pets home. The City of Mill Creek explicitly requests that pets be left home for Trunk-or-Treat on Main. Crowds, candy, and costumes stress most animals, and several events are indoors at community centers, so check the specific event page for its pet policy before you decide.
05 How do I find trunk-or-treat events near me?
Start with your city or town website: Marysville, Lake Stevens, Mill Creek, Mukilteo, Stanwood, Bothell, and Arlington all publish their Halloween events on city pages, and a full source list is at the bottom of this page. Community centers, chambers of commerce, fire stations, and houses of worship also post trunk-or-treats on their own channels.
06 Do I need to inspect my child’s candy?
Yes. The FDA recommends checking all commercially wrapped treats for signs of tampering (tears, pinholes, or unusual appearance), discarding anything suspicious, and removing choking hazards like gum and hard candies for young children. Skim wrappers for common allergens too. A light meal before heading out keeps kids from snacking on the go.
// Safety, from official sources
A safe night out
These tips come from the Washington State Patrol, the FDA, and Safe Kids Worldwide, not from me. Each card
links to the source so you can read the full guidance.
Pedestrian first
Safe Kids Worldwide reports children are more than twice as likely to be hit and killed by a car on Halloween than on any other day. Cross at corners and crosswalks, use traffic signals, walk on sidewalks where they exist, and walk facing traffic when there is no sidewalk.
Washington State Patrol and the State Fire Marshal recommend flame-resistant or flame-retardant costumes, no long trailing fabric, battery-operated or LED lights in jack-o-lanterns, and decorations kept away from open flames. Add reflective tape or a flashlight so drivers see you at dusk.
The FDA says to inspect commercially wrapped treats for tampering, throw away anything suspicious or unwrapped, avoid homemade treats from strangers, and remove choking hazards for the youngest kids. Check labels for allergens before letting kids dig in.
Authorities remind drivers that extra kids are on sidewalks and crossing streets on Halloween. Slow down in neighborhoods, avoid distractions, and watch for children darting between parked cars. Expect the unexpected at driveways and intersections.
Every event, time, and address on this page was pulled from one of the official sources below. If a 2026
detail could not be confirmed from an official source, this page says so instead of guessing.
Whether you are new to the area or have lived here for years, I hope this guide makes the night easy.
If you are also thinking about what your home is worth or what your next move could look like, the
neighborhood event calendar is a good reminder of why this county is a great place to put down roots.
